About

The Adams Fire Department is nearly 200 years old. Originally it consisted of three separate companies which together formed the Adams Fire Department.

The Tempest Engine Company and the Hook and Ladder Company were housed in the building on Liberty Street which is currently occupied by the China Wok Chinese restaurant.

The Star Hose Company was housed in a single bay wooden garage located on North Main St across from the current fire station. That building was moved and is still in use as a garage behind the residence of Dr. Jean Hafner at 16 E. Church St . The three individual companies each held separate meetings and then came together and held a joint meeting as the Adams Fire Dept. Some time about 60 years ago the separate company meetings were dropped and all business was done by the combined organization.
